If the insurance company wont settle, the Firm files a lawsuit, conducts discovery and tries the case in Court. Don R. Cotton concentrates on these litigation cases, and on the firms medical negligence cases.
Don attended the University of Kansas, where he earned a B.A. degree in History and Psychology. While at K.U., he was named a State of Kansas Scholar, a Freshman Honor Scholar, and was a member of the KU Honors College. He also received several other academic awards and scholarships, and developed his undying devotion to the Kansas Jayhawk basketball team.
Don next earned a J.D. degree, with honors, at the University of Texas School of Law. While at U.T., he developed a strong interest in litigation and trial work as a member of the National Mock Trial Team and the winner of a number of mock trial and moot court competitions and awards. Don received numerous honors grades for his course work and served several prestigious internships with some of the leading law firms in Texas. Despite his Jayhawk roots, Don now considers himself a Longhorn as well.
Don began his practice in Houston in 1990 as a litigation defense lawyer. While a defense lawyer, he concentrated on medical device litigation and medical malpractice defense with one of the top ten largest law firms in the United States. In 1995, Don left the dark side and has spent the last seven years representing injured people in lawsuits against insurance companies and corporations. At The Bob Richardson Law Firm, Don has successfully settled and tried cases ranging from minor impact car wrecks to million dollar wrongful death and medical malpractice actions.
Don is married to an oncology nurse and is the father of two elementary school aged children.
